Chemicals <br /> used at the facility that may have entered the ponds include <br /> caustic soda, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons used in <br /> cleaning, sulfuric , phosphoric and hydrochloric acids , boiler <br /> treatment chemicals, methyl ethyl ketone, toluene, xylene, tetra- <br /> chloroethene, methylene chloride, paint primers in an organic <br /> solvent carrier, and paints containing talc and titanium based <br /> pigments. Paints containing heavy metal pigments may have been <br /> used prior to 1980. <br /> The facility was originally built and operated by Lodi Door and <br /> Sheet Metal in the early 1980's. Sheet metal products were <br /> manufactured along with garage doors. The site was purchased in <br /> 1982 by the Overhead Door Company of Dallas, Texas. <br /> B. Previous Investigations <br /> In August 1980, a geotechnical investigation of subsurface soil <br /> strata for a building foundation recommendations was conducted by <br /> J. H. Kleinfelder and Associates. <br /> On May 17, 1982, the DOHS collected water and sludge samples from <br /> the pond. Analyses of the sludge samples detected chromium at 32 <br /> ppm , nickel at 1 , 180 ppm , zinc at 1 , 670 ppm, lead at 35 ppm , and <br />
