Secondary Containment Assessment page A:
Overhead view.
' WA
Crass sectional (lateral) view.
Volume aculations.
Tank volume(largest tank): 7,400 gallons.
Containment volume,(sum of areas 1,2& 3)= 14,363 gallons(gross)
Less tante volume—376 gallons,containment volume= 13,987 goons(net)
Volumelinch— 13987 X1124 in=582,8 gal/in
Excess volume= 13987- 7400 gats. equivalent to 6587 gal/182.8 gal/in = 11.3 in
24 hr., 25 yr. storm=2.4 to 2.6"for most of San Joaquin Valley,
Therefore, secondary containment volume is adequate.
Design of containment area: Secondary containment is provided by a number of areas enclosed by poured
concrete,or concrete block walls with re-bar. The containment arca does not have cracks or gaps to allow the
escape of spilled inatcrial. Area 1 (East end) is connected to area 2 by an open 6 in. pipe, and area 2 is
connoted to area 3 (West Grid)by a 6 in, pipe. These pipes will accommodate flow of 300 to 500 gpm
depending upon the head. Area 1 is equipped with a level indicator for leak detection, which will sound,an
alarm when liquid is detected. liquid is recycled using an AODD pump,
Areas 1,2& 3 are coated with epoxy which is re-applied annually.
Secor►dwy Containment Leak Tests—The pre-neutralizer area(Areas 1,2&.3), and the final neutralizer area,
are filled with water(area 3 partially filled, area 1 T remove pumps before filling),and visually checked for
leaks. Upon completion, the water is treated in the system and discharged to the sewer. Testing will be initiated
this year or early next and repeated every five years. Appropriate records will be maintained.
Site Security: The entire site is fenced. The gate is locked when company personnel are not pre=p.
Smondary Containment findings: The secondary containment system is of sufficient capacity and condition
Tor the containrneut of mleases from the 7,400 gallon wastewater tank and ancillary equipment.
Initials:
California Tank Lines, lnc- Wastewater processing Tanks(3)
