Former Beacon Station 494 October 8, 1996 <br /> Stockton, California Appendix B Closure Report <br /> SITE DESCRIPTION AND BACKGROUND <br /> Former Beacon Station No 494 is located on the northwest corner of the intersection of East <br /> Fremont Street and "D" Street in Stockton, California This area is developed for both <br /> industrial and residential use The property is at an elevation of approximately 20 feet above <br /> mean sea level Stockton is located in the central portion of the Great Valley Region of <br /> California Site facilities include a station building, two product dispenser islands located <br /> south of the station building, and the former underground storage tank (UST) pit located <br /> northeast of the product dispenser islands The station has been inactive since prior to UST <br /> removal The locations of other pertinent site features are depicted on the Site Plan (Figure <br /> 2) <br /> Previous environmental work at the site was performed primarily by Acton-Mickelson-van <br /> • Dam, Inc (AMV) A chronology of that work follows <br /> April 1992 AMV drilled five soil borings and converted three to groundwater monitoring <br /> wells MW-1, MW-2, and MW-3 (Figure 2) The analytical results of soil samples collected <br /> and analyzed during this investigation are compiled in Table 1 (Soil Sample Analytical <br /> Results) included within Appendix B The locations of the wells and soil borings (B-I and <br /> B-2) are depicted on Figure 2 The highest concentration of hydrocarbons detected was <br /> exhibited by the sample collected from MW-3 at 35 feet below surface grade (bsg) The <br /> laboratory reported Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (TPHg) at 910 milligrams per <br /> kilogram (mg/Kg) Groundwater was sounded at approximately 71 to 72 feet bsg with a <br /> southeasterly flow direction The analytical results of groundwater samples collected from <br /> the monitoring wells reported TPHg as high as 3,600 micrograms per liter (ug/L) and <br /> benzene at 180 ug/L in the sample collected from MW-3 Groundwater analytical results <br /> • <br /> 1494 APB 2 HORIZON ENVIRONMENTAL INC <br />
