sampling.
Numerous bags and bottles were found throughout the center and rear
of dumpster. These bags and bottles were found to be empty but did
contain residual amounts of chemical wastes.
Near the rear of the dumpster on the bottom I located a 5 gallon
plastic pail which appeared to be full. This container weighed
approximately 40 pounds and was removed for further sampling. This
pail was later found to contain liquid waste products, which were
sampled.
A large bag of white powder was located by Dennis Fields of OES
near the rear bottom center of the dumpster. The bag was too heavy
to remove and a sample was taken of this material directly from the
bag.
At approximately 12:00 noon I exited the dumpster and went through
decontamination. During the decontamination process it was found
that the suit I was wearing had a PH of 11. This suit was
considered contaminated and was discarded. I also discarded two
respirator cartridges which I had been using.
Chemicals found during the investigation were sorted, logged and
labeled by Kirk Lund of OES. Dave Caraveo of OES Haz Cated, these
materials prior to their being transported to a State certified
laboratory under a chain of custody.
