8 Sealing secondary Joint preparation containment system Inspect all sealing surfaces to insure they are free of any foreign material such as dirt, sand,or adhesive.Inspect all sealing surfaces to insure there are no cuts,scratches,or nicks which could prevent the joint from sealing properly. Making the joint Thoroughly lubricate the large O-ring and sealing surfaces with a medium viscosity motor oil and insert it into the female groove on the end of the Dualoy 3000/LCX fitting.Hand �p tighten the threaded closure into the fitting,compressing the O-ring.Tighten the closure large 0-ring with an LCX Closure Spanner Wrench to 40 foot pounds,60 foot pounds,or eighty foot pounds for 2-inch,3-inch or 4-inch respectively.Spanner wrenches include a 12"square hole so a torque wrench can be used to tighten the threaded closure.Do not over-torque as this may cause the threads to skip.Re-tighten to lower torque if this occurs. Liberally lubricate the small O-ring and the sealing surfaces with motor oil.Do not lubricate the threads.Slide the O-ring up to the sealing area.Hand-tighten the nut and then tighten with Nut Spanner Wrench to 40,60,or 80 foot pounds for 2-,3-,or 4-inch threaded closure Fig.8-1. systems respectively.(Closure may turn slightly during this step.)
