Subsurface Environmental Investigation November 29, 1988
ARCO Service Stazion 760, Lodi, California AGS 38048-1
interpretation of these results and recommendations for future
work.
BACKGROUND
The former underground waste-oil storage tank was located east of
the station building. Information provided by personnel of ARCO
indicated that the 550-gallon tank was used to store waste oil.
The approximate location of the tank cavity is shown on the
Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2) . Tom Mehringer Construction of
Red Bluff, California, conducted the tank removal operations, and
was responsible for permit acquisition and notification of the
appropriate authorities. Mr. Harlin Knoll of the San Joaquin
Local Health District, Stockton, California, was present during
removal of the tank and sampling operations.
FIELD WORK AND METHODS
An Applied GeoSystems geologist was present at the site on
September 7 , 1988, to collect one soil sample from beneath the
base of the tank. The tank was removed and soil was excavated
from the tank cavity with a backhoe.
2
App/14901GeoSystems
