Hinson: This is in response to attached comments by Gary Reents, California Regional Water Quality Control Board dated 12 July P9 . Please make the following elements part of the work plan so that the work can proceed. Comment No. 1: Dual completion monitor wells . PROPOSED ACTION: Eliminate the dual completion monitor well and drill single completion monitor well 20+ into the water table . If contamination is found and deeper wells are required, then second wells to deeper depths will be constructed. Comment No. 2 : Sampling data. PROPOSED ACTION: Monitor wells 4 and 5 are proposed as reference for background data because they are existing and are believed to be sufficiently distant from London Produce so as not to be contaminated with salts. Water level data indicates they are up gradient from London Produce. Water level measurements it monitor wells 3 , 4 and 5 indicate the groundwater gradient to be 70°+ Northeast . Water level measurements of monitor wells 3 , 5 andT6 indicate the groundwater gradient to be about 700 Southwest which places wells 7 and 8 downgradient . The location of monitor wells 7 and 8 is also selected to provide space for drilling and to be in the area of the pickle vats. Water levels will be measured at intervals of about two weeks for the first 6 weeks to establish, groundwater gradient , then monthly to monitor changes. Groundwater ccntours will be prepared. The nearest well to this site is c = t 1,500 feet southwest and has not been operated for several yF1 .
