Soil Suitability/ Nitrate Loading Study Addendum Letter Irerracon
Nostra Vita Winery Lodi, California
May 20, 2019 Terracon Project No. NA197023
Terracon reviewed the EHD online permits for the site address of 1150 W. Turner Road. The
following permits were available on the EHD website for the site address.
Table 2.
Summary of On-Site Septic Permits.
Leach
Tank Size Leach Line Line Seepage Pits,
Address Permit# Type Sumps,Filter
(Gallons) Quantity Length
Beds, Other
(Feet)
SR0050124 Destruction --- --- --- —
1150 W.Turner Road SR0055802 New Install 1,600 4 84 ---
Based on a review of the permit history, the site is equipped with a 1,600-gallon septic tank with
four 84 foot long leach lines. A septic system (size not reported) was destroyed in 2007. There
were no repair permits found for the address. Copies of the permit history are included in the
Attachments.
Based on interviews with Ms. Bloudoff-Indelicato, in general, the existing wine tasting room
operates year-round, Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm with
a single shift work day and includes up to 5 employees, up to 25 daily visitors, and 30 single day
events each year with up to 120 people in attendance per event. The proposed 3,750 SF winery
production building will operate year round, Monday through Friday, between 8 am and 5pm with
up to 3 employees per day.
To estimate the wastewater flow for the facility, Terracon considered the standard and peak
operational hours, shifts, number days of operation per year, number of employees, number of
visitors, and special events. The maximum (max)daily flow rate and average daily flow rate were
calculated for each building.
Expected Maximum Daily Flow Rates (# People per day x# Effluent gpd)
The max daily flow rate for the existing facility is 650 gpd (5 employees x 30 gpd + 25 visitors x
20 gpd). The proposed wine production building is anticipated to add an additional 45 gpd (3
employees x 15 gallons per day). The special events are anticipated to add 2,400 gpd (120 people
x 20 gpd) per event. Therefore, the maximum daily flow rate for the facility is anticipated to be
3,095 gpd.
Based on a review of the California Department of Water Resources, Groundwater Information
Center Interactive Map, depth to groundwater is anticipated between 30 and 40 feet bgs. The
groundwater flow direction and the depth to shallow, unconfined groundwater, if present, would
likely vary depending upon seasonal variations in rainfall and other hydrogeological features.
Without the benefit of on-site groundwater monitoring wells surveyed to a datum, groundwater
depth and flow direction beneath the site cannot be directly ascertained.
Based on a review of California State Water Resources Control Board GAMA website, there were
Responsive ` Resourceful v Reliable 4
