File No. 249947 20 May 1991 Page 10 <br /> ' Thus, whether the results are anomalous or do in fact represent site conditions, the <br /> low levels of toluene detected in the analyses are not sufficiently high to warrant <br /> tadditional action. <br /> ' 3.0 SUMMARY <br /> The subject site is located southwest of the intersection of West Lodi Avenue and <br /> North Hutchins Street in Lodi, California. The property is developed with several <br /> small shops and a Taco Bell Restaurant, a paved parking lot and a small field. <br /> Our previous investigations of this property determined that the site had once been <br /> ' the location of, among other things, a school bus garage, a bus maintenance <br /> building, and a car wash. <br /> ' Our previous investigations determined that two underground storage tanks had <br /> probably been located on the subject site. The storage tanks were part of the <br /> school bus facility. Conflicting information was uncovered regarding the locations <br /> ' of the tanks. <br /> A geophysical survey of the site in May 1990 noted two areas in which underground <br /> storage tanks may have been abandoned in place. During the current investigation, <br /> both areas were excavated. The larger anamoly was found to be a buried <br /> mechanic's pit, part of the maintenance building. The second, smaller anomoly was <br /> found to be a 1 foot thick section of reinforced concrete which could not be broken <br /> ' by the backhoe equipement. Soil samples collected from this area were found to <br /> contain no detectable levels of petroleum contaminants. Low levels of toluene, <br /> probably anomolous in nature, were detected. <br /> ' Two trenches were excavated in the vicinity of the former bus garage. The <br /> subsurface soils were inspected for evidence of contamination. A total of 280 feet <br /> ' of trenches were excavated in this investigation. No evidence of contamination was <br /> discovered. Two soil samples collected from the trenched material were found to <br /> contain no detectable levels of petroleum contaminants. Low levels of toluene, <br /> ' were detected. Again, this finding is probably anomolous. <br /> Directly west of the former Mandarin House Restaurant, was a single row of three <br /> ' drains. These drains are connected to sand and grease traps which were installed <br /> as a part of the car wash operation. A second row of traps may exist under the <br /> foundation of the now-demolished restaurant. We were unable to penetrate the <br /> concrete pads surrounding the traps to inspect the subsurface conditions.
