t
File No. 249947 20 May 1991 Page 11
' 4.0 ANALYSIS
' Based on the results of this investigation, and previous studies we have conducted
on the subject site, it would appear that the underground storge tanks from the bus
' operation were removed from the subject site. However, the possibility exists that
tanks may be uncovered in the future in areas which do not correspond with the
available data.
We were unable to inspect the soil surrounding the sand and grease traps from the
former car wash for evidence of contaminantion.
' 5.0 RECOMMENDATIONS
Bus buildings. Buried concrete from the bus maintenance building exists onsite.
This concrete should be removed before site redevelopment. We recommend that
we be allowed to observe the removal of the concrete, to inspect the subsurface
conditions in this area.
' Sand and grease traps. Since they may interfere with the proposed development,
it is likely that the traps will need to be removed before the expansion of the store.
' This would include the traps that may be located beneath the foundation of the
former Mandarin House Restaurant. We recommend that, if possible, this work
be done prior to the property transaction. We further recommend that we be
' allowed to observe the trap removals and to collect and analyze soil samples taken
from beneath the traps.
' 6.0 LIMITATIONS
The conclusions in this report are based on judgement and experience, and are not
scientific certainties.
