10 June 2019 AdvancedGeo
AGE Project No. 19-4696 Environmental
Geology and Groundwater depth and flow direction data were obtained through review of
Hydrology Maps of Lines of Equal Elevation/Depth to Groundwater (California
Department of Water Resources, Fall 2018). Depth to groundwater in the
general area of the subject property is between 30 feet and 40 feet below
surface grade (bsg) with a general north-northeastward groundwater flow
direction.
Topography The property is located at elevations between 55 and 65 above mean sea level
(MSL) and in an area of low topographic relief. Regional slope of the area is
toward the general northeast.
Surface Soils EDR provides a report listing dominant soil composition in the general area of
the subject property based on information from the United States Department
of Agriculture's Soil Conservation Service STATSGO (State Soil Geographic
Database) soil maps. Soil surface texture is listed as VERNALIS CLAY LOAM
soil, a clay, in the Class B Hydrogeologic Group which includes moderate
infiltration rates. Corrosion potential of this soil for uncoated steel is high.
Surface A dry slough is located along the north and northwest subject property
Water boundary line. The nearest surface water features in the vicinity of the property
Features is the San Joaquin River, located approximately 3,600 feet northeast of the
site.
Flood Zone The EDR database report shows that the subject property is not located within
a 100 or 500-year Flood Zone. This data, available in select counties across
the country, was obtained by EDR from the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) which has maps depicting FEMA-defined 100-year and 500-
year flood zones.
Wetlands The EDR database report shows that the subject property is not located within
the National Wetlands Inventory. This data, available in select counties across
the country, was obtained by EDR from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
4.0. HISTORICAL USE
The history of the subject property from as early as 1915 to present was researched by
reviewing aerial photographs, topographic maps, San Joaquin County Building
Department records and a personal interview. Based on a review of historical records,
the property has been utilized as residential property since at least 2006.
Representative historical documents are included in Appendix C.
4.1. SANBORN FIRE INSURANCE MAPS
Sanborn Fire Insurance maps were developed in the late 1800s and early 1900s for use
as an assessment tool for fire insurance rates in urbanized areas but are now utilized as
a valuable source of historical and environmental risk information. EDR owns the largest
collection of Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps. AGE requested EDR to provide any Sanborn
Fire Insurance Maps that might cover the subject property. However, Sanborn Fire
Insurance Map coverage is not available for the subject property (Appendix C).
