feet. Prior to the start up of the plan. , remediation activities we need to destr. 21 soil gas wells which are located
on the site.
1. You confirmed that all 21 soil gas wells will need to be permitted prior to destruction. You indicated the fee was $375
per parcel and $125 per well. You thought the approval of the permits wouldn't take more than a week depending on
your schedule.
2. Fourteen (14) of the soil gas wells are located in areas where the planned depth of the excavation is below the
bottom of the soil gas well. You concurred that the complete excavation of the wells to depths below the bottom of the
soil gas wells would be satisfactory as a destruction method.
3. Seven (7) of the soil gas wells are located in areas where the planned depth of the excavation is above the bottom of
the soil gas wells. Each well of these wells is constructed of 1/4 inch polyethylene tubing and have 6-inch stainless steel
screens set at two depths. The depth of the shallow screens range from 5.25 to 5.5 feet, while the depth of the deep
screens range from 8.5 to 14.75 feet. As a destruction method, you indicated the County will require that we overdrill
these wells and tremie grout the resulting borehole. Additionally, you indicated the County is not comfortable with just
pulling the tubing, especially for the deeper wells since there is a likelihood the removal would be incomplete.
If there is anything in this email that misconstrues your reponse please let me know. Regardless, it would be
appreciated if you could respond to indicate you concurrence with my understanding of our conversation.
Please advise.
Thanks.
Pat Barrese, PG
TERRA PACIFIC GROUP
201 North Civic Drive, Suite 135
Walnut Creek, CA 94596
Office: (925) 951-6000 x322
Mobile: (925) 667-7464
Fax: (925) 951-6005
z
