WORK NOTICE <br /> KL OF <br /> Former Manufactured Gas Plant <br /> m 712 South Sacramento Street <br /> r Lodi, California <br /> C'41-WOW" November 2009 DEPARTMENT OF TOXIC <br /> SUBSTANCES CONTROL <br /> Field Work Scheduled from November 2 - 12, 2009 <br /> The Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC) is distributing this notice to inform the <br /> community about upcoming field work at Pacific Gas and Electric Company's (PG&E) vacant site <br /> located at 712 South Sacramento Street, Lodi, California. From 1913 to 1928, a manufactured gas <br /> plant operated on the site. Previously, PG&E's contractors collected soil, soil gas, and groundwater <br /> samples at the site, which indicated that residues from past gas manufacturing operations are <br /> present in some areas of the site. The work is planned to address various c:ontamindnts in the soil <br /> at the site, including lead, arsenic, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), and total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons (TPHs). For the upcoming field work, PG&E contractors, under the oversight of DTSC, <br /> plan to collect additional samples of soil and groundwater to complete the site investigation. This data <br /> gathered will help determine the extent of cleanup that will be necessary. <br /> Work will take place from November 2nd through 12th between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. <br /> and includes the following: <br /> • About 28 holes will be drilled at various locations throughout the site, south of the site and <br /> in the street directly in front of the site. Soil and groundwater samples will be collected <br /> using hand sampling equipment and a truck-mounted drill rig. <br /> • Boreholes will be filled with a concrete mixture and patched with asphalt or concrete after <br /> work is completed. <br /> • All work will be conducted in accordance with a site Health and Safety Plan. Workers may <br /> wear safety gear while working on-site and operating heavy equipment <br /> The majority of work will take place within the fenced areas of the site, with some work planned for <br /> areas immediately adjacent to the site. Several borings will be drilled adjacent to the western curb of <br /> South Sacramento Street in front of the site.
