This work is being conducted by PG&E on a self-directed basis, with the objective <br /> of evaluating the feasibility of using SVE to reduce concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in <br /> soil prior to excavation. <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The scope of work will generally consist of: <br /> • installation of one six-inch diameter poly vinyl chloride (PVC) SVE test well and six one-half inch to one <br /> inch diameter PVC observation wells; <br /> • mobilization of trailer mounted SVE test equipment including propane and generator; <br /> • extraction of vapors for a continuous five-day period; and, <br /> • treatment of extracted vapors using granular activated carbon (GAC) or thermal destruction. The treated <br /> vapors will be discharged to the atmosphere under an existing mobile operating permit issued to the <br /> vendor for the SVE equipment. <br /> Wells will not be installed to groundwater, and no groundwater pumping or management would be conducted <br /> as part of this project. The following tasks describe the scope of work. <br /> TASK 1—PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES AND UTILITY SURVEY <br /> Stantec will conduct the following preliminary activities: <br /> 0 Health and Safety Plan – the current site-specific Health and Safety Plan (HASP) will be revised to <br /> include the proposed activities. The HASP will describe the safe execution of field activities, including <br /> a site-specific job safety analysis. <br />
