Main Street, Lodi , CA" prepared by your consultant, Luhdorff and
Scalmanini . The addendum is acceptable except for the proposal to use an organic
vapor analyzer (OVA) to screen the field soil samples collected at five foot
intervals.
As stated in my 11 December 1990 letter, a soil sample should be taken every five
feet from at least one of the soil borings, preferably at site BB2, and analyzed
in the laboratory for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) . Since it is not certain
how sensitive the OVA is to tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in the soil at this site,
and because PCE may be present in an isolated layer anywhere in the soil column,
it is advisable to have as many soil samples as possible from at least one boring
for correlating OVA readings to actual soil analyses. The remaining two soil
borings should have a minimum of three soil samples collected and analyzed for
VOCs.
In regards to accessibility for site BB1 , I have sent a letter to
Mr. Allmendinger encouraging him to allow access to his property for completion
of the site investigation. He has responded, saying that he has no objection to
allowing your consultant access to his property.
When reporting the results of the investigation please use the enclosed outline
for site assessment reports submitted to the Regional Board's Well Investigation
Program. According to your schedule, the report is due 30 March 1991 (two months
from Regional Board approval of the work plan) .
If you have any questions, please call me at (916) 361-5649.
POLLY LOWRY
Associate Engineering Geologist Ice
PAL:ej
cc: Mr. Carl Lischeske, Department of Health Services, Stockton
Ms. Donna Heran, San Joaquin County Public Health Services, Stockton
Mr. Fran Forkas, City of Lodi , Lodi
Mr. Fred Roes, Busy Bee Laundry and Cleaning, Lodi
Luhdorff and Scalmanini , Woodland
