SOIL PROFILE AND PERCOLATION TESTING
The General Soil Map of San Joaquin County (Appendix A) shows the soil to be either
(12-Tokay-Acampo) which is moderatly well drained and well drained, moderatly coarse textured soils that are
deep to a cemented hardpan or are very deep;on low fan terraces or(7-Guard-Devries-Rioblanco)which is
poorly drained and somewhat poorly drained moderatly coarse textured and moderately fine textured soils that are
moderately deep to a cemented hardpan or are very deep and that have been drained in most areas;on basin rims.
The soil profile observed in the field indicates el non-plastic combination of silt and sand.
The top 32" being dark and then changing to a tan color, slightly cemented, to a depth of 100".
(Profile hole depth was 100")
The percolation test report is included in this report as Appendix B.
As evidenced by the percolation results the soil is conducive to percolation of clear sewage
effluent. The rate was 24 min/in. and was observed by Mr. Bill Marchese, RDI, EHS of San
Joaquin County Public Health Services, 304 E. Weber Ave., Stockton, California.
SEPTIC TANK AND LEACH FIELD
A gravity sewer system will serve one single family residence on this parcel.
A standard, structurally sound and waterproof, 1500 gallon, two compartment tank* is
recommended should a replacement tank ever be required. The residential sewage system bulletin,
published by the Environmental Health Division of the Public Health Services is included in
Appendix C, and is applicable to this residential site.
The use of a garbage disposal requires periodic inspection of the tank more often than normal
use without a disposal. A gravity effluent filter should be installed with riser to surface and sealed
lid. This provides easy access to clean the filter every two years or as indicated by periodic
inspection. The 4" Biotube Effluent Filter by OSI, orequal, is recommended.(541)459-4449.
The use of this filter adds a measure of protection for te leach field. See Appendix D for a
description of the Biotube. Regular inspection and pumping of the existing tank, as required,
will prevent serious damage to the leach field from solids.
*The most efficient tank is the Meander Tank by Willamette Grayston Inc., Eugene, OR,. the
design of which provides about 4 times the normal travel time in the tank. This increases the
settlement of solids and provides for a higher grade of effluent. Cost: $880.00 FOB.,(1500 gal)
as quoted on 12-18-98. No known distributor in California.
2.
