i CONCLUSION The percolation test results and field analysis of the soil indicate the site is acceptable to residential on-site sewage disposal when the system is installed in conformance with existing San Joaquin County Standards and the tank manufacturer's specifications. The existing system has been in operation for ten years with no problems. A septic tank must be structurally sound, waterproof and installed according to the manufacturer's specifications. The leach field area required is 10,000 SF based on the percolation rate of 24 min/in. It is important to protect the leach field from traffic that would compact the ground surface. The leach field area above the trenches may not be used for other purposes. A 50% expansion area must be available should it be required. The standards require a 3 bedroom residence to have 270 feet of leach field in silt or sandy clay loam. Reduction is allowed if pits are installed. The field observation cannot determine the predominate component of the soil. The conservative classification is sandy silt. If the SFR has 4 bedrooms a 1600 gal. tank is required and 320 feet of leach field. The laboratory test results of the well water indicate 3.9 mg/1 for Nitrate and ND (not detected) for DBCP. See Appendix F. No new well is proposed. There should be no adverse impact on the area groundwater from a properly installed and maintained septic system.
