EXCAVATION PERMIT APPLICATION NO. EP-81-9 and ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT REPORT <br /> NO. EIR-81-5 of ROSS PURVIANCE (Stockton Sand & Gravel) , for quarry excavation <br /> of 712,000 cubic yards of dredge tailings, on the east side of Waverly Road, <br /> approximately 1/2 mile south of Shelton Road, east of Linden. This item was <br /> continued and set for a special hearing by the Board of Zoning Adjustment at <br /> the meeting of August 27 , 1981. <br /> Planning Considerations: Planner Harry Islas presented the staff report regard- <br /> ing the project and Environmental Impact Report. He presented a summary of <br /> impacts , mitigation measures and project alternatives. He noted that a Statement <br /> of Overriding Considerations must be prepared should the Board decide to approve <br /> the project. The project area is approximately 36 acres and includes dredge <br /> tailings and overburden. <br /> PUBLIC HEARING OPENED ON THE ADEQUACY OF THE E.I.R. <br /> PROPONENTS: Larry Deimler was present as the Civil Engineer for the project. <br /> He gave his address as 1150 West Robinhood, Suite 1-C. He said that the pro- <br /> ject area is approximately 40 acres and not 4 as stated in the E.I.R. He sub- <br /> mitted written comments stating that the rusted, inoperative equipment on the <br /> site was recently moved there by Stockton Sand and Gravel for the appli- <br /> cant to utilize usable parts from this equipment as needed. The beds of the <br /> boxcars are to be used for a proposed private bridge across the Calaveras <br /> River. The remainder of the cars will be used for storage buildings and/or <br /> scrapped for other uses. The proposed truck scales will not be open to the public. <br />
