Hunter, Planning 1)irector SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
S :n Joaquin County PLANNING DEPARTMENT
1510 E. Hazelton Ave.
Stockton, Calif. 95205
Ja;_r Pir. Hunter: Re: EIR -61-5 and EP-81-9 of Ross Purviance (c/o
Stockton Sand and Gravel, Inc. )
'ate are owners of 209 acros in San Jo,:quin County to the north
of r:lnd adjoining the land covered by the above applications . We will be
una-ble to attend your special meeting on Sect. 16, ane wJ_11 be
rL;pre:3cnted there by our daughter and son in law, ('ir. and 'i•irs. ar_cos
Iicndcz, who arc operating this property under a lease/purchase
agreement. For the record we do want to express cur major concerns on
the riintter.
1. The record of Stockton Sand i.ind Gravel, Inc. , at its p _esent
site, will support a long and continuous period of
noncomplj.ance with State and County rules and regulations.
It would surely be wrong and perhaps illegal to allow the
operator -to leave that mess along the Calaveras River
( its prosent site) and commence more of the same in - new
location. Prior to any conc;ideration of this pending
application the operator should be required to bring his
present operations into compliance.
2. If approved, the new application should contain specific
reference to the standards of compliance required. We have
three residences, in 5tanislaus County, within 35001 of the
site, and are particularly concerned about noise generated
by the stationary equipment uoed in crushing operations.
3 • Water use — this problem appears not to be seriously
addressed in the application. The operation will require a
considerable volume of water that can come only at the
expense of the underground water table. Existing domestic
and agricultural users - we are in both categories - will
suffer. It would seem' d prmpriate -to require a water
recovery system.
Thank you very much. Yours truly,
/ I W r1
mtqyA u/
cc : f-:embers of L'd.ol Zoning Adjustment
