Conditions in the Department of Fish and Games letter of. September 20,
1979. Conditions would apply until siich time as the 1601 Streambed
Alteration Permit form is obtained from the Department of Fish and Game:
a) Restrict mining to the remaining surface deposits without diverting
the river to a ditch or working in the live stream.
b) The remaining surface deposits will be harvested no deeper than the
summer river elevation and be graded such that water drains evenly
to the river without ponding as high flows recede.
c) The dikes on the existing borrow pits and the associated riparian
vegetation will not be disturbed along the sections that parallel
the river. These dikes would be left as islands while the upstream
and downstream end of the borrow pit could be excavated about 25
feet wide to provide an entrance and exit to the pit. It appears
that flood flows already breach the upstream and downstream portions
of the borrow pits.
11.
