A .
rid
• A
gas will be fed to the catalytic incinerator for abatement
by an electrically driven pumping unit. The extracted air
stream will first enter a pre-heat section that contains -a
gas burner. The pre-heated air stream will then enter a
dual catalytic bed where oxidation of the hydrocarbon vapors
will occur. Natural gas or propane will be used as fuel for
the catalytic incinerator. A 230 volt, single phase
electrical power source will be brought onto the site to
provide electrical service to the system equipment. The
catalytic incinerator, Pumping unit and the acc"mUlator/
water knockout device will be enclosed by chain link fencing
for security Purposes. The specifications for the
accumulator/water knockout device and the equipment layout
are given in Details A-7 and A-8, respectively.
SOIL VACUUM EXTRACTION 13ROG_RAM
, . The soil vacuum extraction program will .
proceed n four
tasks. The tasks and associated time tocompleteinclude:
1gu
Re latory Authorization and' Permitting," 30:to"60-,days;
2) system I7stallation, 21 days; 3) Equipment Installation,
1
10 days; -nd 4) Operation and Maintenance, 6 to 12 months.
REGULATORY AUTHORIZATION AND rERMITTING
Hydrocarbons will be removed from the soil during the vacuum '
extraction i.
. process. The temporaryand
es .laid according to the system
driven vacuum extraction probes will be
Pneumatically into the soil at the locations and to .
the depths specified in the design. The probes will be
connected to the piping and the piping will be connected to
the Manifold. The
Aj
connected b groundwater monitoring wells will be
y pipes to the manifold. The manifold will then
be piped to the equipment area.
i
F .
YT
