3P1--f-iF-391 WELD 12: 1.1 I HX TECHNIDLOGIES TEL NO:438 t #498 P20
The pre-heated air stream will then enter a dual catalytic bed where
oXidation of the hydrocarbon vapors will occur. Natural gas or propane
Will be used as fuel for the catalytic incinerator. A 23o volt, single
Phase electrical power source will be brought onto the site to provide
electrical service to the system equipment. The catalytic incinerator,
pumping unit and the accumulator/water knockout device will be enclosed
by chain link fencing for security purposes.
SOIL VAPOR EXTRACTION PROGRAM
The soil vapor extraction program will proceed in four tasks. The tai<s
include: 1) Regulatory Authorization and permitting, 2) System
Installation, 3) Equipment Installation, and 4) Operation and
Maintenance.
REGULATORY AUTHORIZATION AND PERMITTING
_ Hydrocarbons will be removed from the soil during the vapor extraction
process. If the concentration of hydrocarbons in the extracted air '
stream exceeds emission levels established by the county regulatory
agency, the hydrocarbons will be abated before the air stream is
disbursed to the atmosphere, Although the level of hydrocarbons emitted
will be within regulatory standards, authorization from the county ,
regulatory agency is required. EVAX will obtain the necessary air
permits from the San Joaquin County Air Pollution Control District, as
well as any permits required by San Joaquin County Public Health
Services, Environmental Health Division,
SYSTEM INSTALLATION
Field Installation
Trenches will be dug and pipes laid according to the system design, The
temporary vapor extraction probes will be driven pneumatically into the
soil at the locations and to the depths specified in the design. The
probes will be connected to the piping and the piping will be connected
to the manifold. The groundwater monitoring wells will be connected oy
pipes to the manifold. The manifold will then be piped to the equipper:
area.
16 -
