NF_4R DOCUMENTATION
1.0 Site History and Current Site Conditions
The Speedy Food Mart (Site) is located at 8200 N. Highway 99, the northeast corner of the
intersection of Frontage Road and Foppiano Lane, in Stockton, California (A-PN 08531010). A
vicinity map is included as Figure 1. The 2.18 acre parcel is bounded by a vacant field to the east,
Foppiano Lane to the south, Frontage Road and Highway 99 to the west, and residences to the north.
The area is designated as being undeveloped urban and is currently used primarily for agricultural
purposes with the closest residential tract located approximately 300 feet north of the former
underground storage tanks(USTs).
The property formerly operated as a gasoline station with tluee 8,000-gallon gasoline USTs and
associated fuel dispensers which were removed in 1998. A Mini Mart and panting lot currently sit
on southwestern most 0.36 acres of the Site and fuel is no longer dispensed. The remaining 1.82
acres is vacant undeveloped land.
1.1 Chronology
On January 28, 1998, three 8,000-gallon USTs, dispenser pumps, and piping used to store and
convey gasoline were removed from the Site. Contamination was noted during removal of the
USTs and soil samples were collected from beneath the removed USTs and the pump island. The
soil samples revealed the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon constituents. The excavation measured
approximately 25' x 30' x 15' deep. As an interim abatement measure, the excavation was lined
with black plastic, and the soil was returned to the hole. Details are discussed Ground Zero
Analysis, Inc.'s (Ground Zero) Speedy Mart Groundwater and Soil Investigation dated February 24,
1999.
On September 23, 1998, William J. Hunter, RG, of Wm J. Hunter & Associates (Hunter &
Associates) supervised the excavated poxi_mttely 166 cubic_ 11-dS (Vd3 of iM13 ►rtPft !;n;r by r;m
Thorpe Oil, Inc (Thorpe). Additional subsurface investigation and assessment work was performed
by Ground Zero in November 1998. The investigation consisted of drilling two pilot borings (CPT]
and CPT2) using a cone penetrometer testing drill rig to identify subsurface lithology. Then soil
samples were collected from three borings (SBI, SB2, and SB3) at significant changes in lithology,
based upon the CPT data collected from the pilot borings. Details are discussed in Ground Zero's
Speedy Mart Groundivater and Soil Investigation date February 24, 1999.
On October 4, 1999 through October 8, 1999 Growid Zero persorulel supervised Spectrum
Exploration Inc. (Spectrum) during the advancement of two borings (SB4 and SB5) as well as the
installation of four groundwater monitoring wells (MW 1 through MW4). The newly installed
groundwater monitoring wells developed between October 12 and 13, 1999. On February 28, 2000,
Ground Zero personnel supervised Welenco in conducting a video survey of the water supply well
to determine well construction details and evaluate the integrity of the well casing. Details are
discussed in Ground Zero's Groundwater Monitoring Well Installation Report dated April 28, 2000.
G:ZROUNDZEIl"ULEUERG\Rcpons\OdicMppeudix A Site Closure Rcpomdoc
I
