Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site to serve the house.
Proposed Septic System
No new septic systems are proposed.
On-Site Septic Permit History
The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were
searched for the Site address. Two permits were identified, and an additional permit
was provided by Mr. Bavaro:
• September 1985 permit for repair to residential septic system. The permit notes
that a new 1,300-gallon septic tank and a 100-foot leach line were installed.
• September 2006 permit for septic tank destruction. The permit notes that the
single-family residence was also being destroyed, and the well was "to be
destroyed under permit at later time."
• June 2017 permit for new septic system at residence. The system utilizes a
2,000-gallon tank and three 80-foot leach lines.
The septic permits have been included in Appendix 4.
Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity
To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that
exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery
from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have
one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 27 septic systems per
square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site.
The general area consists of orchards, agricultural land, and rural residences. The City
of Escalon is located to the northeast; it is assumed that homes in this area utilize
municipal sewer services.
Septic Permit History in the Vicinity
Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental
Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach
lines, leach lines with sumps, or filter beds. The septic permits can be found in
Appendix 4 of this report.
LOGE 1907 Page 2
