#RXO0040-2011 <br />03/16/11 <br />➢ In addition to inventorying P -Listed waste, Strong Pak will also complete an inventory <br />of all compounding chemicals during this visit and provide a report back to the <br />corporate office. <br />Waste Exceptions: <br />❑ Expired Warfarin or Coumadin product in the original stock bottle. <br />➢ These are eligible for credit and handled through normal processes to MedTurn. <br />❑ Damaged Epinephrine pens or used Epinephrine pens that may have been used during <br />immunizations at the store or during an off-site clinic. <br />These are hazardous and not eligible for credit, however are to be handled through <br />sharps disposal processes because of the used syringe. <br />❑ Expired Nicotine or other OTC product in the original unopened packaging. <br />These are eligible for credit and handled through normal FE Damaged and Outdated <br />processes. <br />❑ Damaged controlled substance product (i.e. expired returned to stock, loose/broken tablets <br />etc.), chemicals used in compounding and compounds that are returned to stock. <br />➢ These have no return value and are considered hazardous waste and not eligible <br />for return to MedTurn. <br />➢ StrongPak will be handling these items; however the timing for handling of <br />controlled substances will be different than other waste and will only be conducted <br />on an annual basis. <br />These should be maintained separately from normal outdated or damaged items, <br />and each item placed inside a sealed baggie to prevent contamination. <br />➢ During the StrongPak store service visits, the StrongPak technician will review this <br />type of waste and provide a report to the corporate office.
