#RXO0040-2011
03/16/11
➢ In addition to inventorying P -Listed waste, Strong Pak will also complete an inventory
of all compounding chemicals during this visit and provide a report back to the
corporate office.
Waste Exceptions:
❑ Expired Warfarin or Coumadin product in the original stock bottle.
➢ These are eligible for credit and handled through normal processes to MedTurn.
❑ Damaged Epinephrine pens or used Epinephrine pens that may have been used during
immunizations at the store or during an off-site clinic.
These are hazardous and not eligible for credit, however are to be handled through
sharps disposal processes because of the used syringe.
❑ Expired Nicotine or other OTC product in the original unopened packaging.
These are eligible for credit and handled through normal FE Damaged and Outdated
processes.
❑ Damaged controlled substance product (i.e. expired returned to stock, loose/broken tablets
etc.), chemicals used in compounding and compounds that are returned to stock.
➢ These have no return value and are considered hazardous waste and not eligible
for return to MedTurn.
➢ StrongPak will be handling these items; however the timing for handling of
controlled substances will be different than other waste and will only be conducted
on an annual basis.
These should be maintained separately from normal outdated or damaged items,
and each item placed inside a sealed baggie to prevent contamination.
➢ During the StrongPak store service visits, the StrongPak technician will review this
type of waste and provide a report to the corporate office. They will NOT be taking
away this type of waste at this time.
Questions:
Contact your PDM.
