1.O INTRODUCTION, <br /> Valley Motors operates a wholesale used car dealership at 800 East Main Street in Stockton, <br /> California and is owned by Mr Andrew Hyduke Investigation of the extent of hydrocarbon <br /> contamination beneath the Valley Motors property has been directed by San Joaquin County Public <br /> Health Services, Environmental Health Division(PHS/EHD) <br /> 2.OBACKGROUND <br /> 2.1 Site Location and Description <br /> The site is located several blocks east of downtown Stockton and several blocks north of Mormon <br /> Slough (Figure 1) It occupies`an L-shaped parcel of land at the corner of Main and Grant Streets <br /> The area is zoned commercial and light industrial Small businesses and a vacant lot are located to <br /> the'north, across Main Street, and a paint company is located to the west, across Granit Street The <br /> topography in the area is flat <br /> 2.2 Previous Work <br /> It is our understanding that two UST's were removed from the site by Siebold Corporation in 1990 <br /> The tanks were located beneath the sidewalk along Grant Street (Figure 2) Investigation of the <br /> extent of soil contamination began in 1994, and assessment of groundwater contamination started <br /> in 1995 Two more monitoring wells were drilled in 1996, and monitoring has continued on a fairly <br /> steady basis since about 1998 A fourth monitoring well was installed in 1998, after a soil vapor <br /> survey was completed to delineate the extent of soil contamination <br /> 3.0 PROCEDURES <br /> The depth to groundwater was measured and water samples were collected on March 28, 2001 The <br /> wells were opened and allowed to equalize with atmospheric pressure before the depth to <br /> groundwater was measured Depth measurements were recorded on the Well Monitor Report <br /> (Appendix A) and are shown in Table 1 Samples were collected in disposable Teflon(D bailers <br /> after the water depth was measured, and were poured into 40-m1 vials and labeled The wells were <br /> not purged before sampling The samples were subsequently transported to Excelchem <br /> Environmental Labs for analysis The laboratory report is included in Appendix B <br /> 4.0 RESULTS <br /> 4.1 Depth to Groundwater and Groundwater Gradient <br /> The depth to groundwater on March 28 was approximately 1 foot less than it was in December <br /> 2000 At the present depth of 30-31 feet, the water level is slightly above the contact between the <br /> 2 <br />
