Union Ice Company - ll%,rtr Street Facility ..-
Phase III Continuing Re-Excavation Activities
& Phase IV Remediation
Page: 4
Soil samples collected for analysis will be analyzed using EPS. method $020 for
BTX&E (benzene, toluene, xylenes, and ethyl benzene) compounds, and EPA method
5030/Modified 8015 for total petroleum hydrocarbons-gasoline. The minimum
detection limits used for each analyte will be 5.0 ug/kg for BTX&E, and 2.5 mg/kg for
gasoline. Analyses will be conducted by Exelchem, which will be on site and will
provide a turn-around time of approximately 45 minutes for each sample. Exelchem is
a state certified laboratory located in Citrus Heights, California.
A travel blank, provided by the laboratory, will accompany the sample vials from the
time they are picked up from the lab to the time they are delivered to the lab. This
travel blank will be listed on the Chain of Custody but will be analyzed only if the
corresponding samples are found to contain contaminants.
Groundwater will be pumped into "Rain For Rent" holding tanks that will be brought
onto the site. These water samples will be analyzed by Clinical Laboratories of San
Bernardino. Water samples collected during the excavation activities will be analyzed
by Exelchem, which will be on site.
Water samples collected for analysis will be analyzed using EPA method 602 for
BTX&E compounds and EPA method 5030/Modified 8015 for gasoline. The
minimum detection limits used for each analyte will be 0.3 ug/1 for benzene, toluene,
and ethyl benzene, 0.6 ug/l for xylenes, and 0.5 mg/l for gasoline.
This work plan was prepared by:
Shirley arshall
Staff Geologist
it0
c Vs-E FURN•9,
No. 01079 c
Steven J.
