' UNION ICLCOMPANY <br /> 1320 Weber Avenue <br /> Stockton, Culifornur <br />' Modified Work Plan <br /> To Define Extent Of Soil Contamination <br /> I <br />' 1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> UCTION <br /> I This Work Plan is being submitted to define the extent of contamination in the east <br /> section of the former excavation area <br />' 2.0 BACKGROUND & HISTORY <br /> I Union Ice Company ("ZJIC") owns and operates an ice manufacturing and cold and <br /> frozen storage warehouse facility at 1.320 Weber Street, in Stockton, California (Figure <br /> 1) The facility is nearly surrounded by the Stockton Deep Water Channei and Mormon <br /> Slough (Figure 2) Four (4) underground tanks were removed from this facility in <br /> December, 1988 During removal, it was observed that an unauthorized release of <br /> hydrocarbons (gasoline) had occurred <br /> WHF Environmental Consultants, Inc ("WHF") wag retained by UIC t3 act as <br />' principal consultants in dealing with tnis LUST problem Ross R Grunwald, Ph, D, <br /> acts as a geological consultant to WIV, and as such, we are the principal geotechnical <br /> consultant for the project <br />' In March of 1989, six (b) monitoring wells were installed at the site One of these <br /> wells, MW-4D is a double cased well tnat tests the second aquifer at the site Water <br /> I levels and ground water chemistry have been monitored frequently at the site, since <br /> installation of these wells (Figure 3) <br /> In May of 1990, a 31 point soil vapor survey was conducted at the site Soil gasses <br /> were analyzed for methane content and for gasoline equivalent The soil vapor survey <br /> showed that hydrocarbon vapors in the soil were present in an elongated concentration <br /> Iconfiguration This configuration was elongated in the direction of the ground water <br /> flow direction Results of the soil vapor survey were reported to San Joaquin County <br /> IEnvironmental Health Department in our report of June, 1990 <br />
