Union Ice Company <br />' Weber Avenue Site <br /> Modified Work Plait To Define Frtent of Soil Contamination <br /> Page 2 <br />' In February of 1991, a remedial excavation of about 2,000 cubic yards of petroleum <br /> contaminated soils was undertaken at this site In addition to this excavation, a potential <br /> extraction well (MW-8S) and a down gradient monitonng well (MW-9S) were installed <br />' into the first aquifer <br /> In Maich of 1991, a 12 hour aquifer pumping test was performed on well MW-8 This <br />' well was pumped at a constant discharge rate of 4 16 gpm for 12 hours Drawdown <br /> was monitored for this well as well as all other wells on the property during the test <br />' The recovery of these wells was then monitored for 12 hours The wells were re- <br /> sampled to March, April and July of 1941, the last previous sampling round was in <br /> August of 1990 <br />' On January 23, 1992, a meeting with the San Joaquin County Environmental Health <br /> Department, UIC and WIHF was held to discuss, among other things, the definition of <br /> soils contamination remaining at the site We agreed to add three (3) borings to our <br /> previously submitted Work Plan We have added those three (3) tvonngs to the maps, <br /> per the discussion W e have submitted the boring permit fees with this modified Work <br /> Plan and we will begin work as soon as Lhis plan is approved by the SJCED. <br />' 3.4 SITE WORK PLAN <br /> This Work Plan consists of the placement of eight (8) additional soil borings (Figure <br /> 3) The location of these exploratory borings will be in several areas (see map) of the <br /> former excavation The depth of these soil borings will be approximately 15 feet, <br /> which is where ground water might be encountered Soil samples will be taken at the <br /> ground water interface and five feet (5') above the interface <br /> I3.1 Drilling <br /> A permit will be obtained as necessary for the monitoring well before drilling <br /> begins The monitoring well will be accomplished using a mobile mounted <br /> dnlltng ng employing the use of a hollow stem flight auger no less than 3 1/4- <br /> inch i d and 6 -inch o d <br /> I Alll <br /> drilling equipment will be thoroughly steam cleaned before drilling begins <br /> to prevent the introduction of contamination from off site and between borings <br /> I to prevent cross contamination <br /> 1 <br />
