KLEINFELDER
a
2 BACKGROUND !w
i!
A 2,000-gallon underground storage tank was removed from the west side of a building at
1515 W. Weber Avenuet k '! 'I
S oc ton (Plate 1}. The tenant of this site is Farmer's Bag and
Supply. Santa Fe Pacific Realty Company owns the property.
On November 16, 1988, a soil sample was collected from below the tank excavation at a ;
depth of approximately 12 feet and a water sample was collected from the tank excavation. }
The samples were collected by a representative of FGL Enviro 'amental.
Analytical results for the soil and water samples indicate the pr6sence of benzene toluene
ethylbenzene, xylene (BTEX), and total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) at high
I concentrations in the tank excavation area. Total lead was also detected in both samples.
t Ethylene dibromide (EDB) was not detected in these samples at concentrations above the
laboratory reporting limits. 1
Based on these results, EHJ Construction, Inc., acting as ageAt for the property owner,
contracted with Kleinfelder to investigate the extent of contamination. The following
sections describe Kleinfelder's proposed approach. a
I1
I
7 y!
Ilf t
F
 + I
I
,I
 1
181-89-71.9 2  '
