f
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This document summarizes the Final Remediation Plan for two
former underground fuel storage tank sites.located on the property at
the western extreme of West Weber Avenue in Stockton, California.
The remediation is being conducted by ERM-West, Inc. on behalf of
Catellus Development Corporation and under the supervision of the
Environmental Health Division of San Joaquin County Public Health
Services. Ia
3,
The remedial activities address two specific site locations at the
ij
following addresses on the West Weber prop
• 1515 West Weber Avenue: Former Tank Site #1; and
• 1325 West Weber Avenue: Former Tank,'§ite 42.
Underground fuel storage tanks were removed from both sites and,
releases of petroleum products from the underground storage tanks
were detected. The extent of the constituents in soil and ground water
has been characterized at both sites.
a For site soils, the remedial alternative is ov erez'cavation and on-site
aeration of hydrocarbon-containing soils. The soil remediation process
will encompass the following steps: ' excavation; excavation
confirmation sampling; excavation backfilling; soil aeration; and
aeration confirmation sampling. No excavation will be conducted
beneath the buildings. An attempt will be made to collect soil samples
from beneath the buildings in areas where the affected soils appear to
t extend below the building to determine the mass of residual
hydrocarbons present beneath the building (if any is present).
For ground water, the remedial alternative I entails the extraction of a
fixed volume of hydrocarbon-containing ground water from both sites,
aeration of the extracted water, and discharge)to the sewer. If necessary,
the extracted ground water may first be polished with liquid-phase
activated carbon prior to discharge to the sewer.
x
ii .a
