KUM N FELDER
September 14, 1989
File: 24-216100 A00
Ms. Eleanor Ratliff
San Joaquin County
Public Health Services '
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201
Dear Ms Ratliff:
The following letter addresses your request for additional information to supplement our
application to drill soil borings and monitoring wells on the Santa Fe Real property at
1.515 West Weber Street in Stockton. We hope that you are able to review Realty
ter and
approve our application quickly so that the project can proceed as soon as possible.
Previous Investigations
On November 16, 1988, a 2,000-gallon unleaded gasoline tank was removed at 1515 West
Weber Street. A soil and water sample were collected from the tank excavation by FGL
Environmental under San Joaquin County supervision, and were analyzed for TPH, BTEX,
EDB, and lead. The following table outlines the results of those analyses.
Soil Water
TPH 250 mg/kg 110 ug/l
Benzene 190 ug/kg 5100 ug/1
Toluene 590 ug/kg 23,000 ug/1
Ethylbenzene 280 ug/kg 11,300 ug/l
Xylene 1100 ug/kg 56,000 ug/l
EDB ND ug/kg ND ug/l
Lead 6 mg/kg 2.6 mg/l
Quantity and Composition of Liquid Leaked
Based on the history of the tank, the liquid leaked is probably unleaded gasoline. The
quantity leaked or spilled is unknown.
History of Site
The property at 1515 West Weber Street was previously used as a railway yard. It is
currently leased by General Potato and Onion, and is subleased to Farmers Bag and
Supply. The exact dates that the area was used for a railway yard are not known. The date
when the underground fuel tank was installed is not known, nor is the date when it ceased
to be used.
Local Geology,Topography
The property is located adjacent to the Stockton Deep Water Channel in the San Joaquin
River Delta. The site is underlain by hundreds of feet of alluvial clays, silts, and sands.
The Stockton Deep Water Channel flows into the San Joaquin River approximately 1.5
miles southwest of the site. The land surface is the vicinity of the site is approximately 10
feet above mean sea level and is essentially flat except where cut by river channels.
KLEINFELDER 9795 Business Park Drive, Sacramento, CA 95827 (916) 366-1701
