Health and Safety Plan <br /> The health and safety plan prepared for this work will address the <br /> following areas. <br /> • Excavation safety including shoring requirements, <br /> • Cherrucal hazards during excavation and aeration, and <br /> • Heavy equipment safety <br /> The health and safety plan will also provide information on personal <br />' protective equipment, personnel monitoring, decontamination, and <br /> emergency procedures <br /> Soil Remediation <br /> So <br /> The soil remediation process will encompass the following steps <br /> • Excavation, <br /> • Excavation confirmation sampling, <br /> • Excavation backfilling, <br /> • Soil Aeration, and <br /> • Aeration Confirmation Sampling <br /> The steps, and the wet weather contingency plan are described in more <br /> detail below <br /> Excavation <br />' Affected soils from Sites 1 and 2 will be excavated and transported to <br /> the aeration treatment area Because the maximum depth of the <br /> affected soil is no greater than 7 5 feet below ground surface (bgs), <br /> excavation will be conducted with conventional excavation equipment <br /> (backhoes) The excavation sidewalls away from the buildings will be <br /> sloped at a 21 slope Excavation sidewalls adjacent to the buildings will <br />' be sloped at a 1 1 slope, to allow for maximum soil excavation The <br /> excavation contractor will also be required to bring shoring equipment <br /> to the site Unless the buildings are provided with extensive shoring <br /> and underpinning, excavation cannot be conducted directly adjacent to <br /> 5-2 <br />
