1 the estimated non-detect line (<1 mg/l (ppm)) for TPH-gasoline in
ground water is shown on Figure 4-3
Lead. Analyses were also performed for total and organic lead in soil
and water samples. Samples collected during the removal of the
tank by EHJ Construction showed total lead results of 2.6 mg/kg for
' soil and 6 mg/l for water (note that water samples were unfiltered).
Subsequent samples were analyzed for organic lead. These later
sample results (for both soil and water) were below detection limits
' (Tables 4-1 and 4-2). The analytical findings suggest that the tank
contained unleaded gasoline, and the total lead values reported are
representative of background levels in area soils.
' RD1Ri Numerous tests have been completed for EDB. All of the
results were reported to be below detection limits.
' ColifQrm Bacteria, At the request of the Health Department, a water
sample was collected from MW1 immediately after the well was
constructed, and the sample was then analyzed for Coliform
' Bacteria The test was performed because the well lies within 50 feet
of a sanitary sewer force main lying west of the well. The test result
reported a most probable count of 1,600 coliform bacteria/100
' milliliters.
Summary of Findings
The tank formerly located at Site #1 was found to be in poor condition
when it was removed This poor condition resulted in a release of
petroleum products to soil and ground water. Subsequent
' investigation activities defined the extent of the release as being
limited to a localized area of soil and ground water in the vicinity of
the former tank location Potential remedial action alternatives for
' this site will be evaluated in Section 7
4-5
