(Apex),has been authorized by Moore Petroleum(Moore)to
respond to your office's letter dated February 28'; 1994. In April, 1993, Aegis
Environmental Inc. (Aegis), installed a free product skimmer in monitoring well MW-1.
On January 14, 1994, Apex removed the skimmer and collected a groundwater sample,
since no free product was noted in this well. Prior to Apex acquiring this project in
January, 1994, approximately 20 gallons of product/water mixture were removed from
monitoring well MW-1. The product/water mixture has been stored in appropriate DOT
barrels on site.
In June, 1992, your office agreed with a request that active remediation is not needed at
this—time—and your February 28, 1994.1etter reiterates this noting that over-excavation and _
groundwater vacuum extraction at the time of tank replacement in early 1995 is a viable
method of remediating contaminated soil and groundwater. Since your June, 1992,
determination, free product is longer showing up'in well MW-1 and the petroleum E
concentrations in the remaining five wells are below drinldng water standards. With these
remediation activities scheduled for early 1995 and no present on-going remediation at the
site, Apex feels justified in requesting the change in monitoring frequency from quarterly t
to semiannually.
f
E
f
4
i
i
