Drilling and Trenching Along the Right-of-Way of Sixth Street
Proposed drilling and trenching along Sixth;Street is characterized as a short-term and
stationary work area. The use of flaggers is;optional, especially considering.the low
traffic, low speed nature of the road. However, because the approach to the open side of
the road is not entirely visible by those traveling west on F Street, or traveling south on
Sixth Street, Apex chooses to utilize one flagger as a mirror to assist drivers through the
construction area during drilling and trenching along the length of Sixth Street. The
flagger will be positioned within the cone barrier-close.to the center of the intersection, I
.and be clearly visible to motorists coming from any direction. A yield or stop sign will
be installed 25-feet east of the intersection on F Street, and 40 ft. north of the northern
extent of the work_area. Stopped motorists will yield to oncoming traffic of the
remaining open lane. Thus, the provision will be made for alternate one-way movement
through the constricted section. Motorists will also be forewarned by"Prepare to Stop"
and "One Lane Ahead"signs placed 100 and 150 feet, respectively, before the
corresponding stop sign. All placements of signs and cones may be altered as I
construction proceeds to benefit safety and continuity as sound judgment directs.
Trenching Across Sixth Street
. I
While cutting the asphalt, removing the material and placing the ozone supply lines, one
lane will be left open at all times. Once the trench cuts have reached the middle of the
street, the lane closure will shift to close''the other lane. Principles discussed in the above
traffic plan will be followed, with the addition of steel trench plates to bridge the trench
of the open lane once the material has been removed.
If you have any questions or comments, please call us at (916) 851-0174.
Sincerely,
APEX ENVIROTECH, INC.
Richard Johnson
Remediation Department Manager
Cc; Mr. Jerry Moore
