The report,received by PHS/EHD on June 4,2001,
includes results of a groundwater pumping test conducted on site during the week of.March 26,2001,as
well as the results of quarterly monitoring conducted on April 5,2001.
The Apex report recommends completing the installation of the vapor extraction system currently on site,
utilizing already existing vapor wells VEW-1,VEW-2,and VEW-3(MW-8),as well as MW-1. The report
points out that VEW-1 and MW-1 are currently built for vapor extraction and have piping connecting them
to the remediation compound. Apex also recommends reinstalling MW-7 as a vapor extraction well.
PHS/EHD agrees that completing the installation of the.vapor extraction system and reinstalling monitoring
well MW-7 as a vapor extraction well may be the next appropriate step. A final decision will be made after
this office receives the next report presenting the results of the March 2001 pumping test and outlining the
proposed vapor extraction system.
If you have any questions regarding this letter, please do not hesitate to call Dot Lofstrom at(209)468-
3436.
Donna Heran,Director
Environmental Health Division
J
Dot Lofstrom,R.G.
LOP/Site Mitigation Unit
cc: Marty Hartzell,CVRWQCB
Michael Sgourakis,Apex Envirotech
i
A Division of San Joaquin County Health Care Services
