A discussion of our field
activities, observations, analytical results and conclusions are'summarized below:
BACKGROUND
,i
Kleinfelder understands that a former 250-gallon gasoline/diesel UST was removed from the site
approximately four years ago. The tank was excavated and removed by Mr. Bywater after it
failed a pressure test. The bottom of the tank was estimated at approximately six feet below
ground surface. No fuel was noted in the tank during removal and no water was noted in the
excavation.
it
On April 6, 1998 two soil samples were taken, one beneath the tank at depth of approximately 8
feet below ground surface (bgs) and one from soil stockpiled from the tank excavation. The
samples were collected by representatives of Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc., and submitted
to Alpha Analytical Laboratories Inc., of Ukiah, California for:the following analyses:
x i
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Diesel (TPH-D)
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as referenced to Gasoline (TPH-G)
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethybenzene and Total Xylenes (BTEX)
• Lead, Chromium, Cadmium, Nickel, and Zinc
• PCBs E
• Halogenated Volatile Organics
No volatile organics by EPA Method 8010 or PCBs by EPA Method 8080 were detected at or
above laboratory reporting limits. Petroleum constituents and metals were detected in both
samples collected during the 1998 sampling event.
