Additional work and details
described in this addendum are based on the comments received from the Department of Toxic
Substances Control (DTSC) in letters dated June 2, 2005 and August 25, 2005 and during
several subsequent discussions and conference calls with DTSC. In particular, this investigation
addendum has been prepared as verbally approved by DTSC in a conference call with Earth
Tech on September 7, 2005.
The changes or revisions to the Work Plan and proposed investigation activities include the
following:
• Revision of the project Health and Safety Plan to include soil gas sampling.
• Collection of soil gas samples from four locations (SV-1 through SV-4) in the drill room in
the area where naphthalene was detected in a single groundwater sample from prior
location S817. As requested by DTSC, the soil gas samples will be analyzed for volatile
organic compounds (VOCs), including naphthalene, by EPA Method TO-15.
• Collection of four grab groundwater samples from the same four locations noted above.
Because both naphthalene and bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate were detected in the
groundwater sample at prior location SB17, the grab groundwater samples will be
analyzed for naphthalene and bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate by EPA Method 8270C.
This addendum only details additions or modifications to the sampling program portion (Section
7) of the Work Plan.
