Earth Tech Ms. Violeta Mislang
A Tyco Intemational❑d.Company September 30,2005
Page 4 of 4
Upon completion of the groundwater sampling, the borings will be grouted using a cement-
betonite mixture in accordance with San Joaquin County permit requirements.
Reporting
Earth Tech will prepare an addendum/appendix to the PEA Report summarizing the soil vapor
and groundwater sampling activities and results. Risk assessment sections of the PEA Report
will also be revised to incorporate this additional data. The addendum/appendix will be submitted
to DTSC in conjunction with the revised PEA Report for review. We are proposing to report
these additional activities in an addendum or as an appendix to the report in order to minimize
changes in the report body, such as tables, figures and related text.
Please note that since (1) bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate is a very common laboratory contaminant,
and (2) this additional sampling is proposed to verify that its previous detection in samples was
due to laboratory contamination issues, we propose to exclude the compound from the COPC
list if (1) the proposed additional sampling does not detect it at the site, or (2) the additional
sampling shows that it is truly a laboratory contaminant based on laboratory quality control data
and data validation procedures accepted by USEPA.
Schedule
An approximate schedule for implementation of the additional soil gas and groundwater
investigation presented in this Work Plan addendum and completion of the evaluation of the data
and associated reporting is presented on Figure 2. Please note the start date and schedule will
be dependent on review and approval of this work plan addendum by DTSC, coordination of site
access with the property owner, and coordination of field activities with subcontractors.
If you have any questions regarding this work plan addendum, please do not hesitate to call the
undersigned at (408) 232-2800.
Very truly yours,
Earth Tech Inc.Dan Ruslen
Project Engineer
Ze4lv
un, P.E.
Program Director
CC: Mr. Robert Senga (DTSC)
Mr. Glen Foster(Tyco Electronics)
Mr. Chuck Katz(Earth Tech)
Mr. Doug Fisher(Earth Tech)
