Jacked welded steel pipe shall conform <br /> to the provisions for laying pressure pipe in Section 65-1.08 "Laying Siphon and Pressure Pipe", <br /> provisions for jacking corrugated steel pipe in Section 66-3.10 "Jacking Pipes", and the <br /> provisions for welded steel pipe in Section 70-1.0213 "Welded Steel Pipe", of the Standard <br /> Specifications. The last paragraph of Section 66-3.10 "Jacking Pipes", shall not apply. The <br /> Permittee shall, at his expense,pressure grout the area between the casing and the native material <br /> in order to fill any voids caused by the work covered under this permit. Grouting shall be in <br /> conformance with UGI of the Caltrans Encroachment Permit Utility Provisions, dated August <br /> 1998. <br /> Materials to be used in the work under this permit shall conform to Section 6 of the Caltrans <br /> Standard Specifications. <br /> All work shall be performed in accordance with the current Department of Transportation <br /> Standard Specifications and the Department of Transportation Encroachment Permit Utility <br /> Provision dated August 1998. <br /> Compaction of backfill material by ponding or jetting will not be permitted. <br /> A survey grid shall be set and appropriately checked over the centerline of the pipe jacking or <br /> tunneling operation. Copies of the survey notes shall be submitted to the Department's <br /> representative. <br /> Backfill for installations outside the highway roadbed shall be thoroughly compacted to a density <br /> that existed prior to excavation, and made to conform to the surrounding ground surface. <br /> All work shall be conducted in such a manner that the excavation, excavated earth,materials and <br /> equipment will not cause any inconvenience to the highway traffic or to traffic entering the <br /> highway from any public or private approach. <br /> No earth or construction materials are to be dragged or scraped across the highway pavement, <br /> and no excavated earth shall be placed or allowed to remain at a location where it can be tracked <br /> onto the highway traveled way or any public or private approach by the Permittee's construction <br /> equipment, or by traffic entering or leaving the highway traveled way. Any excavated earth or <br /> mud so tracked onto the highway pavement or public or private approach shall be immediately <br /> removed by the Permittee. <br /> Pipes shall normally be bored and jacked or tunneled underneath pavement without disturbing <br /> same. Pavement or roadway shall not be cut unless specifically allowed by the permit. Service <br /> pipes will not be permitted inside culverts used as drainage structures. Schedule of contractor's <br /> work hours shall be submitted prior to the start of work. <br /> All bores shall be accomplished by the dry-bore method. Other methods of boring are prohibited <br /> unless specifically approved by the Department's engineer. Bentonite may be used as a lubricant <br /> only. <br /> The State of California, Department of Transportation makes no assurance or expressed warranty <br /> that the plans are complete or that the planned construction fits field conditions. Should <br /> additional work or modifications of the work be required in order to meet established <br /> 3 <br />
