k4 KLEINFELDER
f 3 FIELD ACTIVITES
3.1 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION AND SAMPLING
3.1.1 Permitting and pre-Field Activities
It has been Kleinfelder's experience that this document contains sufficient detail and information to
be submitted to San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (EHD) to review and
approve a boring/well permit. Kleinfelder will submit a well permit application along with this
workplan to EHD. An encroachment permit will also be required by the City of Stockton to
install the monitoring well in Glacier Court. Kleinfelder will obtain the encroachment permit
from the City of Stockton prior to well installation. Additionally, a "Revocable Permit" will be
prepared for the. City of Stockton prior to the monitoring well installation. The permits must be
approved prior to drilling the boring.
Following approval from the EHD and the City of Stockton,Xleinfelder will commence with the
actual assessment. Please note that Kleinfelder can not commence with the actual field work
until the proposed scope of work and the permits have been approved. Additionally, EHD will
bill Del Monte Foods for their time spent on,the project.
The drilling subcontractor will contact Underground Service Alert 48 hours prior to conducting
fieldwork to notify local utilities of our proposed subsurface assessment.
3.1.2 Monitoring Well Installation
One (1) soil boring will be advanced to a maximum depth of approximately 90 feet below ground
surface (bgs). The monitoring well will be installed in the sidewalk in front of the residence
located at APN 15703001, 103 Glacier Court. The boring will be advanced approximately 10 to
15 feet into groundwater. A 2 - inch Schedule 40 PVC monitoring well will be constructed in the
boring. The well will be constructed with a ten foot 0.020 screened section and 80 feet of blank
Schedule 40 PVC casing, fitted with a locking pressure cap, and installed in a flush mounted well
vault. The Waterra High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) tubing.will be installed in the monitoring
well equipped with the Waterra surge block fitted over a I - inch'(O.D.) standard flow DelrinTm
foot valve (D-25). Please see the attached well construction diagram (Plate 3). Construction of
this well appears appropriate to intercept the target stratigraphy at this location.
The soil boring will be drilled at a location determined to be downgradient to the former Disco
Site located on Glacier Court.
12280.GLAC 1 ST03P010 Page 4 of 1 I
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc.
