k%1 KLEIN FELDER
be used to assess which wells represent upgradient and which wells represent downgradient
groundwater conditions.
The newly installed monitoring well will be sampled in accordance with Typical Kleinfelder Field
Protocols (see Appendix A). It is anticipated that the new monitoring well will be sampled at the
same time as the other monitoring wells located at the project site. When the next scheduled
monitoring event takes place the new well will be added to the "Monitoring Decision Tree" and
purged and sampled. Approximately three to five well volumes will be purged, and samples will be
collected as described in Appendix A. The new monitoring well groundwater sample will be
submitted to a State certified laboratory for the following analyses:
• Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons-gasoline (TPH-g)by DHS LUFT
• Benzene, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Xylene (BTEX)by EPA Method 8020
• 1,2 DCA by EPA Method 8260
• EDB by EPA Method 8260
• TBA by EPA Method 8260
• Oxygenates,MTBE, DIPS, ETBE, TAME by EPA Method 8260
The samples will be submitted with the other monitoring well samples for analyses on a normal
laboratory schedule requiring approximately two weeks (10 working days) for completion unless
the optional rush analytical turnaround is requested by the client at an additional charge.
3.1.4 Initial Groundwater Sampling & Analysis
The newly installed monitoring well will be incorporated into the quarterly sampling schedule of
monitoring wells for the Disco site. Kleinfelder estimates that this monitoring well will be
available for sampling during the First Quarter of 2003.
Water level measurements will be made in the monitoring well prior to purging and sampling the
wells. The depth to groundwater will then be measured in each well according to the protocol
described in Appendix A-4.1.
Approximately three to five well volumes will be purged and samples will be collected as described
in Appendix A-4.2. Each of the water samples collected for quantitative analyses will be
submitted under chain-of-custody.control to a laboratory certified by the State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS) for the requested analyses.
12280.GLAC/ST03P010 Page 6 of I 1
Copyright 2003,Kleinfelder,Inc.
