Box 2009
Stockton, CA 94598-2458
Subject: Proposed schedule of activities at Del Monte Plant 33, 110 North Filbert
Street (Disco Tank Site), Stockton, California
Dear Mr. Schneider:
This letter presents Del Monte's proposed schedule for quarterly groundwater monitoring
and groundwater remediation at Del Monte Plant 33 located at 110 North Filbert Street in
Stockton, California (Figure 1). Del Monte has completed the onsite remedial
investigation; the results of this investigation are presented in "Remedial Inves-
tigation/Feasibility Study, Disco Tank Site, Stockton, California (February 1992)"
(RI/FS). Removal and analysis of the soil from the underground pipe removal work was
completed in April 1992 ("Underground Pipe Removal and Investigation Results", letters
to Ms. Carol Oz/PHS, March 16 and April 23, 1992).
The remedial investigation included collecting groundwater level and groundwater quality
data. The shallow groundwater surface was found to exist at approximately 75 feet
below ground surface. As described in the RI/FS, groundwater was observed to flow
northwesterly at a gradient between 0.0005 and 0.0013. Groundwater monitoring results
from the remedial investigation are presented in Table 1. These results indicated a
contamination source area in the vicinity of monitoring well MW-1 and identify a plume
extending through MW-2. The limits of this plume appear to be defined by MW-3, -4, -
6, -7S, and -71).
Del Monte's proposed monitoring and remediation schedule is presented on Table 2.
Prior to and during design and construction of the remediation system, Del Monte
proposes quarterly groundwater monitoring beginning May 15, 1992. This quarterly
groundwater monitoring program will include annual sampling of all eight Plant 33
CH2M HILL Son Francisco Office 6425 Christie Avenue.Suite 500 510.652.2426
Emeryville,CA 94608-7006 Fox 510.652.0482
