M
manageement districts. The San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution
District recently made a finding to verify this . The engine has an
approximate destruction efficiency of 98% .
The facility will be on a plot approximately 200 ft. X 200 ft. ,
surrounded by an eight-foot high chain link fence . On the site
will be a building to house the engine-generator, controls and
switch gear. The main landfill gas header enters the facility and
goes through a knock-out drum that removes particles and moisture.
The moisture, gas condensate, is nonhazardous . Gas then goes
through the blower, a cooler and to the engine. The engine has a
closed circuit fluid cooling system. Radiators and coolers are
outdoors . Electrical switch gear, breakers, synchronizing panels
and the motor control center are in the building. Transformers and
the interconnection are outside and may be off-site.
Gas is not stored on site or held at elevated pressures . The
facility presents no unusual fire or safety hazard. The expected
sound level will be about 70 dba at a distance of 100 feet from the
building. After construction, the project will generate virtually
no traffic. The unmanned facility will have periodic inspections
and maintenance . A control system notifies the operator of
shutdowns and alarms . Response time should be within four hours
during regular business hours .
jrk:10-28-96 3 of 3
