lw
ec0100 and elIAMIment,inc.
4. Analytical Data
Laboratory analytical results for VOCs analyses are presented in Table 3 in Appendix C. The
complete laboratory analysis data reports for all samples are contained in Appendix D.
4.3 Summary and Discussion of Groundwater Results
Groundwater samples were collected from boring locations EC2-01, EC2-02, EC2-04, EC2-05,
EC2-06, EC2-07, EC2-08, EC2-09, and EC2-10. At boring locations EC2-03 and EC2-12, no
groundwater was encountered in the drilled borings; and therefore, no groundwater samples were
collected. A Geoprobe® Systems drill rig was used to drill to groundwater at approximately 56
feet bgs at each boring location. Groundwater samples were analyzed for TPH-g, TPH-mo, TPH-
d and VOCs. Groundwater analytical results for the TPH and VOCs are presented in Tables 4
and Table 5, respectively(Appendix Q.
4.3.1 Analytical Results for TPH in Groundwater
TPH-g was detected in two groundwater samples above the laboratory reporting limit. TPH-g
was detected at boring location EC2-02 at a concentration of 29 micrograms per liter(gg/L) and
boring location EC2-09 at a concentration of 120 gg/L, which is above the site-specific action
level established for this assessment of 100 gg/L. TPH-mo was not detected in groundwater
samples collected at the site above the laboratory reporting limit. TPH-d was detected in
groundwater samples from nine of the ten boring locations sampled. Only at boring location
EC2-08 was TPH-d not detected above the laboratory reporting limit. TPH-d was detected at
concentrations ranging from 160 gg/L at boring location EC2-10 to 8,500 µg/L at boring location
EC2-01, which are all above the site-specific action level established for this assessment of 100
µg/L. The laboratory detection limits varied significantly for TPH-mo analysis due to a high
concentration of sediment in the water samples that required dilution of the sample. In several
instances the laboratory detection limit was higher then the site-specific action level for that
analyte. Laboratory analytical results for TPH analyses are presented in Table 4 in Appendix C.
Figure 4 (Appendix A) shows contaminant concentrations for samples where a screening level
was exceeded. Complete laboratory analytical reports for all samples are contained in Appendix
D.
4.3.2 Analytical Results for VOCs in Groundwater
VOCs were generally not detected at concentrations above the laboratory reporting limit in
groundwater samples collected at the site. Benzene was detected at boring locations EC2-02 and
EC2-09 at concentrations of 0.00023 mg/L and 0.00057 mg/L respectively, which are below the
site-specific action level established for this assessment of 0.001 mg/L. Toluene was detected at
seven of the nine boring locations sampled for groundwater at concentrations ranging from
0.00011 mg/L to 0.00042 mg/L, which are below the site-specific action level established for this
assessment of 0.04 mg/L. Ethylbenzene was only detected at boring location EC2-02 at a
concentration of 0.00012 mg/L, which are below the site-specific action level established for this
assessment of 0.03 mg/L. m,p-Xylene was detected at boring location EC2-02 at a concentration
of 0.000 18 mg/L, which is below the action level of 0.02 mg/L for xylene. Methyl tert-butyl ether
(MTBE) was detected at boring location EC2-09 at a concentration of 0.084 mg/L, which is
above the site specific action level established for this assessment of 0.005 mg/L. Methylene
chloride was detected at boring location EC2-07 at a concentration of 0.000 11 mg/L, which is
below the site-specific action level established for this assessment of 0.005 mg/L. 1,2-
Dichloroethane (1,2-DCA) was detected at boring location EC2-09 at a concentration of 0.0049
4-3
