Styrene was detected at boring location EC2-02 at a concentration of 0.00028 mg/L, which
is below the site-specific action level established for this assessment of 0.01 mg/L. Acetone was
detected at boring location EC2-10 at a concentration of 0.014 mg/L, which is below the site-
specific action level established for this assessment of 1.5 mg/L. Carbon Disulfide was detected
at boring location EC2-02 at a concentration of 0.00022 mg/L. There is no listed regulatory level
for Carbon Disulfide. No other VOCs were detected above the laboratory reporting limits.
Laboratory analytical results for VOCs analyses are presented in Table 5 in Appendix C. The
complete laboratory analysis data reports for all samples are contained in Appendix D.
4.4 Summary and Discussion of Quality Assurance/Quality Control
Data
Soil samples were analyzed for metals by CLP ILM05.4 by Sentinel, Inc. in Huntsville, Alabama.
Soil and groundwater samples were analyzed for VOCs by CLP SOM01.2 by ALS Laboratory
Group in Salt Lake City, Utah and for TPH by EPA Method 8015 by the U.S. EPA Region 9
Laboratory in Richmond, California. Data from the U.S. EPA CLP laboratories are Tier 1B
validated by the U.S. EPA with associated quality assurance reviewed by START.
The data were qualified by the respective laboratories or by the START data validator where
necessary. The Tier 1B data validation conducted by the CLP laboratories included
evaluation of criteria such as laboratory quality assurance/quality control summaries, holding
times, method blank contamination, and matrix-related recoveries. The START review of
the Tier 1B data validation results compared data to specific project quality objectives, which
included target analytes, sensitivity, analytical accuracy, analytical and sampling precision,
and analytical completeness. The START quality control (QC) review also evaluated trip and
equipment rinse blank contamination and comparison of primary sample to field duplicate
results. No QC issues were identified by START during the Tier IA data validation review.
Based on the results of the Tier I and Tier 1B data validation, the analytical data for this TBA
were deemed acceptable for use in this report without qualifications, as noted in the analytical
data tables.
4-4
