The purpose of the meeting was to evaluate
progress and to establish time tables for future work.
22 East Market
'ne re•excavation of contaminated soil began on July 23, 1992 and continued until July 30. 194E
Structural limitations were encountered which prevented continuance of the re-excavation. As a
result the re-excavation attempt failed to remove all contamination. A source of the
contamination was identifled, a leaking product line, which was then repaired.
• PHS/EHD requested that the volume of residual contamination be estimated and submitted in the
summary report. The report summarizing the results of the re-excavation is anticipated to be
submitted by the second week of September 1992.
The abandonment of the domes!Wt mergency well was discussed. The well was installed primarily
for the purpose of civil defense. Evaluation by the COS and the Office of Emergency Services
indicated that the well is no longer necessary. The COS plans to destroy the well by December
1992.
2500 Navy Drive
• The fourth monitoring well was located. It had been filled with sand. Repair work consisted of
excavation around the well, refitting of the casing, and redevelopment using air jetting to remove
the sand. All the sand was not removed, but a groundwater sample was obtained.
A report of field activities, hand boring sampling and monitoring well sampling has been
submitted and PHS/EHD will provide comments, once review has been completed.
A npv of fan Joaquin C.Vy Realm as f C
