(AGE) . In a telephone
conversation on June 15, 20043 AGE stated the quarterly reports for 41h quarter 2003 and 1st
quarter 2004 are not complete. The laboratory analytical results corresponding to these
outstanding reports have also not been submitted electronically to GeoTracker— the State
Water Resources Control Board database program.
As a responsible party, you are required to submit quarterly sampling reports to EHD on a
timely basis . You should endeavor to submit a. quarterly sampling report within 45 days after
sampling. EHD directs the two above-mentioned outstanding quarterly reports be
submitted to EHD by July 1, 2004. You are also directed to initiate electronical submission
of laboratory analytical results to GeoTracker.
The above-mentioned Quarter Report — ThirdQuarter2003 reported a rise in concentrations of
all four aromatic hydrocarbons (BTEl and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) in monitoring
well MW-1 compared to the two previous quarters in 2003, but remained relatively
consistent compared to the previous 4 years of sampling. Analytical results of benzene were
4,400 micrograms per liter (ug/1) and of MTBE were 63 ug/1. Concentrations of
contaminants in MW-2 have continued to drop, with analytical results of 4.1 ug/1 benzene,
and non-detect for MTBE. Analytical results of groundwater samples from the four
remaining wells MW-3 to MW-6 were non-detect for all contaminants tested. Groundwater
flow direction has been consistently calculated as northwest. AGE concluded the
contamination plume to be confined to the general area around MW-1 and 1VIW-2, and
recommended preparation of a corrective action plan.
The vertical extent of the contamination plume has not been defined. EHD does not agree
that a correction action plan is appropriate at this time. The deepest groundwater samples
were the grab groundwater samples obtained from boring P9 at 35 feet below surface grade
(bsg), and P10 at 40 feet bsg in November 2000. Analytical results of the P9 sample were
35,000 ug/1 of Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons as gasoline (IPH-g), 380 ug/1 of benzene,
and 21 ug/1 of MTBE, and results of the P10 grab water sample were 760 ug/1 of TPH-g,
