EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION <br /> All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed with clean <br /> water after washing with a solution of Alconox. All auger stems are steam cleaned prior to <br /> advancement in each boring. <br /> 3 .3 . LABORATORY ANALYSIS <br /> Selected soil and each ground water sample will be analyzed for total petroleum hydrocarbons <br /> quantified as gasoline (TPH-g), volatile aromatics (benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes : <br /> BTE&X) and in accordance with EPA Method 8260 and 8260m for volatile organic compounds, <br /> methyl-tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), di-isopropyl ether (DIPE), ethyl <br /> tertiary butyl ether (ETBE) and tertiary amyl methyl ether (TAME). <br /> Laboratory reports of both soil and ground water analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality <br /> assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports and sample chain-of-custody documentation will be <br /> presented in a report with the findings and recommendations. <br /> 4.0. PROCEDURES <br /> 4. 1 . INSTALLATION OF GROUNDWATER MONITORING WELLS <br /> The following procedures will be performed for the installation of monitoring wells: <br /> 1 . Notify the PHS-EHD 48 hours prior to commencement of any work, while securing proper <br /> city/county soil boring permits. <br /> 2. Boring locations will be marked at least 48 hours in advance for an Underground Service <br /> Alert (USA) check of underground utilities or pipes. <br /> 3 . Advance four soil borings to a depth of 25 feet bsg using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped <br /> with 8.25-inch diameter hollow stem augers. <br /> 4. Decontaminate all sampling equipment in an alconox solution and rinse twice with water <br /> prior to each sampling run. Steam-clean auger flights before advancement of each boring. <br /> S. Collect soil samples at 5 foot intervals from each boring, beginning at 5 feet bsg, utilizing <br /> a California split-spoon sampler and pre-cleaned 2-inch by 6-inch brass sleeves. <br /> 6. Preserve soil in the lead brass sleeve by covering both ends with Teflon sheets, capping, and <br /> i <br /> i <br />
